Bike to Work Week

I will be biking to work all week this week because it's bike to work week and also because I always bike to work.  I will be telling some of my cycling horror stories tomorrow on air.  Cars, squirels, toddlers I've colided with them all.  I like to bike to work and drive to play and then bike some more.  I am talking about mountain biking.  My next door neighbour - who I haven't met yet.  She also Mountain bikes and I tried to say hi yesterday because I thought we could be bicycle friends - but when I said hi she ignored me.  So I guess she... more>

Why Hello Abdominal Muscles!

So I have always known I theoretically had abs but they have never really announced themselves.  They are not visable and they rarely hurt because i don't do things that make them hurt - that was until yoga.  We do leg lifts that make my abs shake and a position called the fish that is nothing like sushi but a lot like strange torture.  We need to put our ankles together and life them in the air and lift our heads at the same time.  All this while trying to keep our backs flat on the floor.... more>

Scared Straight

I saw a story on the news about police going into schools and showing kids guns they've taken from schools before.  i think that as a kid that would be the most terrifying thing ever.  When I go to BCIT everyday I never think that I should have a gun but if someone were to show me the guns they had gotten off other students - that's scary.  So this got me thinking about all the ways we use scary stories to try and make kids stay on the straight and narrow.  Like even Fairy Tales when Little Red Riding Hood strays off the path she gets eaten.... more>

Thomas The Stank Engine

So for todays Soap Box I am going to tell everyone what I think about trains.  I don't hate trains like everyone I enjoy riding that tiny tank engine around Stanley Park at Christmas but two major train based campaigns start this week.  One is "The Olympic Spirit Train"  the other is the Green Party's Campaign Train.  I am going to examine why this is weird.
