Making Contact

Red Robinson or Sam Sullivan?

Two epic interviews took place today.

One, a broadcasting legend that needs no introduction: the ever astounding Mr. Red Rodinson.

The other, the lovely mayor of our fair city, Mr. Sam Sullivan.

Which one will air tomorrow at 3:05???

I'm taking votes...

D'Oh!!! Darren Blakeborough---The Sociology of the Simpsons.

Today on Making Contact: UCFV's incredibly articulate Darren Blakeborough, professor of the Sociology of the Simpson's.

Darren talks about how the show is not one to be dismissed, but is one that should be discussed as it can be viewed as a reflection of sorts on our culture.

Thanks Darren for joining me!

He was a punk before you were a punk...the one and only Chris Walter.

Local author Chris Walter, CEO and bottlewasher of GFY press, has quickly become a force to be reckoned with in the underground literary world.

His novels are simple, yet complex, oft channelling Stienbeck and Buckowski.

His eclectic cast of lovable characters, and what a cast they are, are quirky and flawed, but undeniably human.

These elements combine to make Chris my all time favourite author.

I had the chance to sit down with Chris to disuss his life, his career, and Vancouver, particularly the DTES and the music.

Thanks again so much to Chris Walter!... more>

YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHO I HAVE AN INTERVIEW WITH!

I HAVE AN INTERVIEW WITH QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE ON WEDNESDAY!!!!

This Wednesday at the Forum, Queens of the Stone Age play a sold out show and Evolution will have the exclusive!

This will probably be the single most pivotal interview of my entire life and I couldn't be more excited!

If anyone has any burning questions for QOTSA, let me know!

Tom LaViolette

We hear alot about the safe injection site downtown but do we really know what goes on there or what impact it has on society? It's a controversial issue, but one that has many pros and cons. I went down to talk to the social issue managers of the site. I stayed away from the beauracratic side of things with Coastal Health and went to the down home people that take the mental state of these people using the facility into the question.
Check it out Friday, April 25th in the afternoon.

Dr. Herb Dragert

Earthquakes hit the news again. Apparently April has a larger chance of an earthquake, because of Dr. Herb Dragert and Dr. Garry Roger of the Geological Survey of Canada's theory on episodic tremor and slip (ETS). Listen in! He'll explain what his theory is and what the chances are of the big one on the west coast. I'll be live with him on the afternoon of Thursday, April 24th.

Colin Jack

A PROFESSIONAL BEERTASTER!? OH WHAT!?
Yeah, I got him, I even talked to him. Wow... I look at myself as a minor leauge beer-taster so to talk to a mogul in the field pretty much blew my mind! I learned smoked gouda is a cheese and it goes well with a lightly roasted amber ale. Also apparently you can bbq a pizza? Who knew? Colin Jack sure knew. Oh yeah, and if you have light meat, have a light beer, or dark meat have a dark beer, its the same as wine. And if it's a really dark chocolate, you need a darker beer. Mmmm... I can't type anymore I need a beer...... more>

Making Contact with Gregor Robertson

Down home politics and down home business. Interview by Keith.

Davin Michael Garg

Bcbuzz.ca is doing great things in Vancouver and for a guy, that two years ago, didn't have the passion he does now, he's turned his entire focus to evironmentalism and trying to expose public awareness of the problems facing this planet. BCBUZZ.CA has some funny ass videos about evironmentalism (I know that sounds crazy, but it's true) and great content. And if I don't mind saying so, Davin Michael Garg's co-host Erin Ireland, is incredibly hot! ;) Check out for his interview on the afternoon of TUESDAY April 22, 2008.

Gregor Robertson

Ever want to start your own business? Maybe make it evironmentally sustainable? Maybe make it sell a good product? Try and keep it local? Or do it all under one company name? That's what Gregor Robertson did! He started juicing carrots from his own garden in his kitchen, and now everyone knows about him. Going from that to being an MLA in Victoria, and a new candidate vying for the Vision Party candidacy! What a guy! Check it out on MONDAY afternoon April 21, 2008.
