Laurie’s biggest influences are: Patti Schmidt when she did Brave New Waves on CBC, Jonathon Goldstein- Wiretap/CBC, Craig Norris from the R3:30 countdown/CBC radio3, Madonna, always Madonna. If Laurie could see any musician live, it would be: Led Zeppelin…and it just may come true….Janis Joplin, Billie Holiday, Radiohead, Catpower, Nirvana. Who would win in a fight, Bruce Lee or Chuck Norris? Bruce Lee If Laurie could morph into any animal, it would be: A swift fox. Because we have the same ears. In 15 years, Laurie sees herself: Being a lot more peaceful and being the boss…my own! |
Skateboarders are resilient and inventive. At least I think so.
I admire the way they use public spaces to get around town and their fluid body-board motion at what looks like terrifying breakneck speed. (I am afraid of breaking myself, although I think most skaters are more afraid of breaking their boards).

What a week to be lucky!
I started it off visiting a Community Ball Hockey League at the Roundhouse Arts and Recreation Centre. Jereme Watt filled me in on why he plays; Jason Buckle talked about being on the job as a paid athlete...and much more.
